Stadium Review

I feel I should preface my commentary by stating that I felt very put-off during my visit to FedEx Field, the Washington Redskins Stadium.  I was in Washington, D.C. for the day and as any good tourist interested in the National Football League can attest, after spending hours trudging through the Smithsonian, the abysmally maintained National Aquarium, and the mall area for monument viewing, you want to go an NFL stadium.  FedEx Field seems to be a benchmark NFL facility when reading their website.  The stadium sits on a massive hill and there is ample parking as tailgating is strongly encouraged.  The stadium seats over 90,000 fans and they have a Hooters ... that's right a Hooters, right within the comfortable confines of FedEx Field.  The Hooters Club Level Restaurant is located between sections 314 and 315 near the west end zone inside the stadium.  I'm sure it's an exceptional experience for NFL fans who attend a football game at FedEx Field.

Washington Redskins StadiumAs for me, during the unbearably long offseason, it was an altogether different experience.  I took the Blue line of the D.C. Metrorail system all the way out to the Morgan Boulevard station.  From there it's about a two mile walk to the FedEx Field.  As I approached from the south, I set up my trusty tripod, upon which my digital camera was placed to catalog the experience.  I set the custom timer on my camera and the fine shots you see below were taken.  It didn't take long for me to incur the ire of the stadium security staff.  They rushed out at me and promptly chased me away, citing that pictures of the stadium from the outside are not allowed ... Not Allowed?  How is it that on gameday people take pictures of FedEx Field all day long?  Their website states that still cameras are allowed inside the stadium on gameday.  But for me on this day, I was offered an escort to my non-existent car so they could ensure I was leaving.  I was less than pleased.  So on my walk back to the Metro station, as a final act of defiance, I snapped one last shot ... when I was out of the sight of the rent-a-cops employed by Daniel Snyder.  What a rebel.

FedEx Field - Home of the Washington Redskins   Is Dan Snyder Home?   Not one of my favorite experiences

It was kinda cold ...   The last pic I took before being chased away by FedEx Security   One last pic before leaving, I scoff in the face of authority.
